ILD

Interstitial lung disease is a general term for a large group of diseases that cause scarring in the lungs. Scars cause stiffness in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe and pump oxygen into the bloodstream. Lung damage from the ILD is often irreversible and worsens over time. Interstitial lung disease can be caused by long-term exposure to dangerous goods such as asbestos.
