Pulmonary Embolism

A pulmonary embolism is the obstruction of one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs. Most often, a pulmonary embolism is caused by a thrombosis traveling to the lungs from the deep veins of the legs or, rarely, veins in other parts of the body (deep vein thrombosis).
