Blood in Sputum

Blood in the sputum is a common symptom of many mild respiratory diseases, such as upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, and asthma. It is alarming to cough up a large amount of blood in the sputum or to frequently see blood in the phlegm. In severe cases, this may be due to a lung or stomach condition.
